Summer has come and gone...or just about

Well, how it got to be the end of August is almost beyond me!

The fam and I have had lots of great vacations around British Columbia this summer, from Manning Park to Nanaimo and a few places in between.

When not driving on the highways, I've been busy weaving and finishing projects to send to different galleries for their Christmas boutiques.

Here's a few of my favorite pieces I've worked on this summer.

Bath Mitts:

I once made more of these than I care to remember!  It used to be my bread and butter product for the studio.  Each summer I'd weave 200+, and then I'd call my soap maker friend to buy from her at wholesale, and with the soap and bath mitt, I'd package them as a set.  I sold them for Christmas gifts, teacher gifts, hostess gifts and "just for me" gifts.  Now, being far from my soap making friend, I just sell them as is.  $10.  They are a universal fit.  Made from cotton and cotton chenille, they are so soft and soap lathers nicely in them.  I just heard from my husbands cousin that she still has hers and it's going strong after 10 years!  You should find one ;)

Tote Bags:

One thing I hate to do, is to send items to a boutique or gallery that I've previously sent.  I know it can take time to sell handmade goods, however, I don't like customers thinking I don't have new thing to show them.  So, this summer I took a pile of fabric I wove (wool felt) and some trivets I once made, and sewed them into tote bags using canvas.  The results were fantastic!  This is only 4 of them, there are many more!  The one on the bottom right is SOLD!  A great coworker/friend of mine has chosen it to be their church bag for books/toys/stuff and I couldn't be happier it's going to a great home!  With three sizes to choose from, it's easy to find the one that fits your needs:

small 10"x6.5"x4"  $30
medium 10"x12"x3"  $40
large  10"x15"x4"  $50

Scarves:

There's always a scarf or two, or cowl, on my loom over the summer. This one is my favorite of them all this year.  It's wool and soft!  Plum, cinnamon, and rust colored stripes with a maroon tweed woven in.  It's wide, and just yells AUTUMN!  Anyone want to go apple picking in this one?  Scarves like this are $50, but my scarf/cowl line ranges from $30-50.

Now to send off my applications for the boutiques.  Fingers crossed they love these items as much as I do and jump at getting them in stock for the holdiay shopping season!
