Kool Aid

So, I know we drink it but did you know it also dyes wool beautifully ?  

Today I finally got out the instructions and got my 3 skeins off natural white Briggs & Little wool and chose my colors.  The flavours I used were cherry, mango-peach, blue raspberry and pink lemonade.  The skeins with blue will turn into the warp yarns and the other skein without blue will be the weft.  

Using only the primary colors meant the surprise mixing yielding purple and orange colors.  Almost the full rainbow.  

  

The weather cooperated and now the skeins are dying.  They have a soft scent and tonight, once dry, I’ll warp them into scarves and tomorrow I’ll get them in the loom.

Kool aid.  Who knew?
